Hike #52
Hike 52

Along the rail right of way
4/9/2
On this date, brought Cathy on the hike from Phillipsburg to Hampton I had scouted the
previous Autumn.
My grandmother dropped us off in Union Square, and we followed the Bel Del south to
the LV and CNJ bridges, then ascended and began walking. When we reached one of the
overpasses to a road, and there was a guy there looking for something he’d lost....I can’t
remember what. We descended from the bridge onto the road and walked to South Main
Street to find a store to get Cathy something to eat. We checked a couple places that were
all closed, and finally found someplace and stopped. When we finished we ascended to the
railroad again, then headed east. We crossed Green’s Bridge again, then made our way
trough Alpha to Rt 78, and turned south and used the former LV railroad’s bridge to
cross, then made our way back to the CNJ on to Bloomsbury. We stopped for lunch at a
pizza place in Bloosbury before continueing on.

Walking towards Hampton, I recalled a hike I did with my grandfather there in which I
dragged a beat up Christmas Tree for my grandmother to use for her wreaths she made
yearly.
When we reached the underpass for Iron Bridge Road, the bridge was missing. It has
since been replaced. We passed through Ludlow Station area and as we neared Hampton
it started drizzling. Fortunitely, we finished in Hampton this time again.
