This is another one I lost the original journal to the fire..

I remember for this one we started in a park on the west side of Lincroft or something. This park had some fossil beds in a creek which we started by checking out. We parked the cars at the end point at the A&P in Atlantic Highlands and planned on hiking from Lincroft's Poricy Park. Al Manus was our only newcomer.

We walked into the woods on a trail along the creek, but as I recall it soon petered out and we were just bushwhacking along the creek. We crossed to the south side and skirted some open field areas, some of which may have been ball fields.

I know we got on some sort of a trail system in the area, and it led us out into a developement which we walked through before entering another section of trails. We did'nt have a good map, nor did one really exist that I knew of. We seemed to be looping around. We eventually came throught he park out to the US Government Railroad and Normandy Road, both exclusively for the use of the US Government. After crossing into the east section of the park I think we had an easier time on the trail system, then went to the north side and headed through a small cemetary. The best part of this park section we were in was the boardwalks.

Commando Tom and I visited a sort of health food grocery store when we came out to civilization...Tom stated that a lot of hot girls visit these supermarkets so we of course went in. Inside we found a guy giving out free samples of Nugo Nutrition  bars, and we loved them! After trying each flavor he had out, he gave us each a full bar which we were really happy about. When I got home I was so happy with the product that I wrote an e mail to the company. To my surprise, within a few days I got a reply from the president of Nugo Nutrition thanking me, and he offered to send me a free T shirt and products! I wore it a couple times and then gave it to Tom.

We continued across another cemetary after the grocery store as I recall, then walked a short road walk to the park in Red Bank I'd walked the former CNJ Red Bank Branch from previously. Instead of staying on the west side where we'd hiked the rail bed last time, this time we kept with the other side with the pathways heading south.

Once we got to the south side we turned left parallel with the Navesink River. We continued on this until we got to the first access to Huber Woods Park on the left. We cut in there, and hiked a section of the park that was somewhat new and not yet shown on the map I'd had with me that day.

We wandered through the park and eventually found our way to the park office where we could get some newer maps. From there we followed the trail system east to where the road crosses over a slice of the bay to Locust Point I think it was called. The others went ahead onto the bridge and I stayed back to check out an antique store who's proprieter was the grandson I think it was of the caretaker of the Twin Lights of Atlantic Highlands. I chatted with him for a bit and moved along. On the north side of the bridge we took a dirt road to the right which led to an abandoned white farm house with nice columns, I believe called the Locust Point Farm House. We wandered around and the road looped back to the main road. We continued north and then made a turn to the east on the next paved road parallel with the bay.

I know Commando Tom and I finished the hike, but I can't remember who else stayed with us. I know Al cut out early and someone went with him along the roads, I just don't remember who. We wandered along developement roads looking for access to the trail system of Hartshorne Woods but ended up making a wrong turn. There was a huge downpour of rain while we were out there, which was refreshing at first, but then cold. We finally asked a local and they told us how to get to the trail system. We made our way along he south side and eventually to the great dock we enjoyed swimming off of so much. We took a dip and then followed the trail system to the north of the park until we reached the main north/south road. We then did a bit of a road walk past a church and along some side roads back to the A&P.
