For this one we met in the town of Sussex and planned on Walking the Appalachian Trail again from Rt 23 to the old New York, Susquehanna, and Western Railroad's Hanford Branch south back to Sussex. I'd done it once before and decided to post it again, but only Fred and one newcomer, Drue, showed up.

We did alright near the beginning, following the AT which had a lot of down hill, but the the small hills on this section of the AT like Wolf Pit Hill were difficult for her so we fell a bit behind. The views were more open and it made it a bit more enjoyable on the AT section than the previous time I was up there, but it was still difficult.

When we reached the rail bed and headed south, we continued to pretty easily to where the Wantage Township Recreation Fields were I think it was, and then I think it was this trip we met a guy there who told us we could walk through, while he was putting up no trespassing signs. Luck!

Unfortunitely, when we reached Rose Morrow Road a short distance to the south, it was already getting dark and Drue did'nt know if she could continue. She opted to call a brother of hers all the way in High Bridge to come and pick her up while Fred and I finished the hike. She sad alongside the road, on the corner of Rt 284 and Rose Morrow. Fred and I were going as fast as we could on the dark highway to Sussex. We almost got done before she even was picked up. I woudl have gladly come to get her, but this was one of those awkward situations, and I wanted her to be comfortable to do what was she wanted. Oh well.
