Hike #185; Lower Lehigh Canal

 Hike #185

100 degrees in Bethlehem!!!

8/14/5

Lower Lehigh Canal; Easton-Bethlehem (Musikfest) with Ira Rubenstein and ?

This would be my first of many hikes that would end in Musikfest, Bethlehem PA, an annual huge event.

After meeting in the Brodhead lot in south Bethlehem near Lehigh U, we shuttled cars to Easton at the eastern end of the Lehigh Canal to walk it back to Bethlehem. It was brutally hot, and the sections that were totally open were awful to deal with, but we did it.

We stopped by the rope swings and I guess I went in, but neither Ira or the other woman (who's name I can't remember) did. Ira did climb up the tree though...

Here, I had brought a bottle of coca cola that was laying around and mixed it with I think some Bacardi we had left over from a party, and drank that for the rest of the trip. I was drunk by the time we got to Musikfest a couple miles away. I was'nt going to pay high prices for Musikfest beer! I just wasn't expecting it to hit me like that...

The three of us walked around the fest for a while, and checked out a few acts. When they were ready to leave, Ira drove back to Easton. I walked them to the Brodhead Lot and headed back down to the fest. I remember wandering for a bit and getting totally obliterated off my Bacardi, and sitting down when my step cousin DJ Godfrey found me just sort of in a daze. I hung out and walked around with him and his friends for a while, and had him finish the end of my drink to save me from it, then I lost him and stumbled back to my car to sleep before driving home.
