This was another hike I lost the original journal entry to. Rich Pace and I went out to this tough to access place the previous fall I think it was, to scout out this route we'd use to co lead a hike. It was really neat because the route required Rich to use a GPS.

Joining us for the hike were Rich's friend Mark ?(who I met previously on the hike at Bake Oven Knob PA), Cindy Khun, Ira Rubenstein, Jude Shabrach, Mike Manus, Kieu Manus, Steve Sanbeg, and from the picture I think one is Mike Boguski, who hiked with me later but I didn't realize I met him on this trip. I don't have the names of the others who were on this one unfortunately.

We began from a State Game Lands parking lot on Devil's Hole Road near Mt Pocono (this hike was at the time unconnected with other hikes I'd done, but I'd soon connect it up). We walked a woods road down hill to the gorge and had to bushwhack up the stream. Sometimes we could walk the old road, but it crossed the stream many times and no bridges remained. We had to go through dense rhododendrons, along steep slopes, and across slippery rocks.

On the way up we passed the ruins of what was believed to be a prohibition era speakeasy. We continued to the main waterfall in the gorge, took a break, and then headed back down the gorge and up a side gorge that was smaller. It became dry and then we continued to a woods road through the game lands. On the way Mike Manus fell into the water, so we had to get some dry clothes on him.
We continued to a fork, followed a brief piece of another woods road and then bushwhacked along the Mill Creek passing a weird stone arch pile of stones.

We continued a bit along Mill Creek, then bushwhacked up to more woods roads that led to Cresco Heights with a great view of Delaware Water Gap and Camelback Mountain. We walked along the rocks of Cresco Heights a bit, then bushwhacked over some rocky outcroppings and dense undergrowth on the way back to Devil's Hole. I believe we bushwhacked back down the gorge and walked a bit of the woods road back out to complete the hike.
This was another hike where I met a few people who would go on to hike many many more miles with me, like Jude and Ira in particular who would go on to hike a great many miles with me!
