Hike #133
Hike 133

Taking our usual break at Hot Dog Johnny's
Looking back on this today, I remember how years ago I used to just do hikes catered to when I could get somone to go, not something I planned out ahead of time
4/25/4
Once again, I wanted to bring a couple more friends on the Portland Hike; in this case two
friends I worked with in Wally Mart from the Inventory team, Chis Jones who had
previously done one of the hikes, and Cesar Gonzales, the ICS manager. I brought a couple
beers and a bottle of Arbor Mist still left over from the recent party.

Soon after beginning to walk, Cesar broke out his “Heineys”, a pack of Heinekens he put
in his pack. Chris was complaining that I had brought some Youngling Black and Tan beer,
as his fridge was always full of it, but he did’nt like it!

As we walked through Portland, I told them how we flipped the car over recently (it was
still sitting there), and Cesar tried to get me to flip it back over again, but I was’nt into it.
After crossing the Delaware Trestle, the NJ side of it had been recently dug out badly. I
was not sure if it was to inhibit ATV riders from using the bridge, or if they were burying
something underground. By now, I think it was the latter, as the hole was eventually filled
in.

We walked through Delaware, stopping int the pavilian for a break, then continueing to the
Shrub of Might, which both Cesar and Chis handled well.
While passing through the Manunka Chunk Tunnel, Cesar (or “Icy Hot Ricardo” as I
sometimes call him) decided to smoke a joint, so Chris and I let him fall behind a bit. All
went well, we crossed the sand pit with no problem, and stopped in Hot Dog Johnny’s for
lunch.

As we walked through the Oxford Tunnel, Chis somehow lost the rest of the bottle of
Arbor Mist in the water! The right of way heading into the tunnel was particularly muddy
as well.
