Hike #141
Hike 141

Peeps, John, and JoAnne at Tekening Preserve in the rain
8/1/4
For my next hike, I wanted to try something much different than anything I had previosly
done. I had recently been cast in Country Gate Theatre’s production of “Joseph and the
Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat”, and I thought the day of the Sunday Matinee
performance I could lead the hike from Riverton to Oxford; I would do the Tekening loop
before the performance, then afterwards the L&HR Railroad bed part. It did not work out
the way I had planned, as no one from the earlier part came on the later part, but it was still
fun.

Getting ready for our production of "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat"
Joining me for the beginning of the hike were John and JoAnne Flood of Blairstown. We
parked at my grandather’s lot in Belvidere, and began walking up the street for downtown,
when Peeps showed up at the Busy Bee! We had spoken the night before, and he had just
gotten home from his latest stint with the Airforce! We walked into town and up bridge
street across into Riverton, up to the Tekening Preserve. We walked the loop around the
preserve in the rain, and still had a good time. It continued to rain rather steadily until we
got closer to Belvidere. John and JoAnne both headed home while Peeps and I walked
around a bit more though town. Eventually, I had to go to the theatre to warm up for the
show.

I was playing Nepthali, who was portrayed in this production as a hippie brother to
Joseph; I also played the rich Potiphar. I warmed up and had a pretty good performance, I
felt. Afterwards, I was met by Cathy, Rich Pace, and newcomers Victor and Nancy
Martinez. We spotted their cars in Pequest. Also at the theatre for the performance were
Peeps, Tea Biscuit and Paige, and Bill Bill and his wife, Christy.

After my performace at Country Gate
We walked through my grandfather’s lot to the old Bel Del tracks to the L&HR line, but
before we left the lot, I talked to Bob Koppenhaver, who lived in a house next to the lot
there. We had been in contact via e mail, and I found that he knew my grandfather very
well, and that we had a lot in common (He also had a nice camaro). We continued to
Bridgeville as we always had, and we had to walk through very high corn. Cathy was
freaking out as we walked through it; walking through corn is one of her big fears. We
stopped at the mini mart in Bridgeville to get some refreshments. Continueing onward, we
walked on to Pequest with no problems.
