TEETH!

Mr. Buckett and Larry brought their cars to Bristol where we started near the end of the Delaware Canal, all filled in at this point. This was also my annual costume hike, and I dressed up in my Starfleet Captain's uniform which I had not worn on a hike since 2001 on hike #41. We checked out some of the marshes along the Delaware in Bristol, then walked along the Delaware Canal Trail along the filled in canal to where there was a school built over it, and then we followed a street north toward Bristol Pike. We cut through a grassy little park and crossed the Bristol Pike to Silver Lake Park and turned right following a paved trail along the lake. We continued walking, and turned into a little road that led to a concrete paved area, which we could'nt figure out what it was. We then cut through the woods along a fence line looking for the next section of trail, but ended up having to turn around. DJ Ray found a giant mushroom much like the one we'd found the previous week, and bunted it again, but I missed it. We continued out to the next road heading west, but it ended up being a dead end so we turned around and headed back. There was some sort of southern Baptist church thing going on, an we asked a guy headed in how to get out, and he directed us. We walked across a sort of driveway and out to Lakeland Ave across part of Silver Lake. We then turned right on Bristol Valley Road alongside the lake. We crossed over the PA Turnpike by Black Ditch Park, and climbed down to alongside the Mill Creek on a trail.

We followed the trail along Mill Creek for some time, and I took a fall into some mud, fortunitely not damaging my Star Fleet uniform. We continued until the trail led us out to an open mowed park. The greenway continued northbound along Mill Creek, close to roads. We did'nt have to walk the roads because the greenway was in place. There were many manholes along the way as a sewer line had been placed in the greenway. We continued north to Falls Road where everyone took a bread and headed out to some stores for food and such. They were taking far too long and I was getting annoyed. We walked under the bridge the creek used for Falls Road and found an open manhole on the other side. I climbed down but knew I did'nt want to walk through it due to the smell. We ended up coming out directly on the other side of the road, and followed the creek's greenway on to the north. Somehow, we ended up taking a wrong turn, and instead of following the Mill Creek, we ended up along the Queen Anne Creek heading north. I realized this when we reached Edgeley Road, when I could'nt find where we were on the map, still thinking I was along Mill Creek. When I finally realized, we turned left on Edgely Road and I planned a new route. We turned right off Edgeley into Chickenfoot Park on a trail and made our way sort of north, and somehow we ended up leaving Chickenfoot Park into Oxford Valley Park alongside another tributary to the Queen Anne Creek. We got to a point where we had to cross the creek, but could'nt find a way. Some used sort of a stick across the creek to slowly get over, and others used a pile up of large branches over the creek downstream. I jumped across where a bar of small stones made it a bit narrower, but no one else would try. When Cathy was crossing on the sticks, I tried to help her across, but I ended up slipping into the water over my knees....oh well. We made our way out to Trenton Road and turned right. Mr. Buckett walked ahead and found a bar where he went in and bought some beers. We turned left on Oxford Valley Road and followed it north passing Sesame Place after crossing Lincoln Highway at a place called Dunlap. We descended to the former Pennsylvania Railroad tracks and turned west. There were four tracks I believe, and we stayed on the southernmost set, which looked to be just freight use. We cracked open some beers and continued west to the underpass of PA Turnpike, where we crossed over to the other set of tracks because the one we were on was making a more southerly turn. There were some kids spray painting very artistic graffiti under the bridge, which was interesting, and their are was quite impressive. I don't mind graffiti if it's tasteful. We continued on the tracks west, and when we got to a bridge overpass over another railroad, Jason was dropping sticks down to his the electric wires to see if he could shock it. He ended up having the stick catch fire and fall to the tracks below! This area was called Woodbourne. We continued west and a right of way appeared below the active tracks to the north, which we followed clearly. It took us just north of Langhorne in Middletown Twp. We crossed Rt 413 on a bridge and the tracks led us along the Neshaminy Creek for quite a while and parallel with Playwicki Park where it crossed the creek on a large bridge. It was getting dark by this time, and we turned off the tracks heading down a road on just on the other side of the bridge over the Neshaminy, and turned left into a Green Acres project land. Cathy, Lucy, and DJ Ray waited for us along the road while we walked up a gravel road, which became a farm lane in some fields along another creek called Mill Creek. It was quite pretty, and we ended up on private land having to cut to the road through a yard to Rockville Road in Holland. We turned right and then immediately left on Lakeview Drive, where Amish Paul and Wyatt live. Paul went to pick up the other three while we waited, and we all hung out and ate some pizza before heading out. On a side note with that, we had figured that someone ate more than they were supposed to...but later realized we did'nt account for one person!
